Beyond Raw Data: How Polkascan Transforms Subsquid Aggregates into a User-Friendly Polkadot Experience (Polkadot Treasury Proposal)

Dear community,
We would like to discuss our latest Treasury Proposal with you.
In short, we want to extend the Polkascan open source block explorer with more features, such as an improved dashboard, user-friendly descriptive representations of events and calls, making the data understandable for less technically inclined users. Please read our proposal document for all improvements.
These enhancements make the block explorer more useful for parachain teams that host it.
Looking forward to your feedback.
Team Polkascan

I'm in support of a reasonable number of block explorers within the ecosystem. From a support perspective it is useful to have other tools to confirm 'extracted' data.
If I may, I do have a request for a feature that Subscan has to confirm whether a reward was issued for a particular era. It would be great to have this feature on Polkascan together with a flag that indicates whether the payout is available but not paid out, or totally omitted.
@paradox
Thanks for your feedback! We do have the Staking tab on our account page, but it's missing the era, validator and payout details. We'll look into this and add it to the roadmap.
Hi Polkascan, thank you for submitting this proposal. Are you able to share any statistics on user metrics/utilization? Best, Ivy
Hi @Ivy,
Thanks for your question.
At the moment, parachain teams (like https://twitter.com/JurProject/status/1683900803751489537 and https://twitter.com/DoraFactory/status/1559062041624621056) host this open source software for themselves, so they don't have to use a paid-for service. It's all about having a choice in this Web3 environment. We enable everyone to have their own block explorer that is independent and free to customise.
With your support, we can increase the usage of our block explorer by filling the functionality gap with Subscan, thereby giving people an alternative to a proprietary product and an extra option to verify their data. It would also be a clear signal of support to Web3 values like privacy first, free open source and decentralisation.
Unfortunately we don't have any user metrics to share.
Thank you for your consideration.
